The Importance of Continuous Learning for Entrepreneurs

Being an entrepreneur is always a challenge. In my years of working with and interviewing entrepreneurs, a recurring theme stands out: they all share how tough the journey is. It’s not just about the endless hustle, networking, or the stress of being accountable to both employees and customers. The real challenge lies in constant change. Business models evolve, markets shift, and consumer habits can transform overnight. This is why having an entrepreneurial mindset focused on adapting and embracing continuous learning is crucial.

Jonah Sison-Ramos perfectly exemplifies this mindset. I had the privilege of speaking with the founder and CEO of Dear Face and New Moon on my podcast and sharing the stage with her at entrepreneurial events like The Business Manual’s Growth Con. Jonah has shared countless valuable lessons for entrepreneurs.

Her businesses, Dear Face and New Moon, have achieved remarkable success. For those unfamiliar, Dear Face is a highly popular beauty brand known for its multivitamin beauty drinks like collagen and glutathione. Meanwhile, New Moon, a newer product, has disrupted the market with its S-acetyl-glutathione formula designed to enhance skin brightness and maintain a healthy glow.

The scale of Dear Face is impressive—manufacturing 50,000 to 100,000 pouches of its top product, Beauty Bean, every week.

“Just Go with It”

Jonah’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple yet powerful: “Just go with it.” Her life is a testament to this approach. Starting as a registered nurse and later working as a casino card dealer, she pursued opportunities wherever they arose.

Her entrepreneurial journey began in 2012 with a brand called Skin Potions. After dealing with a bad skin breakout, Jonah tried a honey oatmeal soap that worked wonders for her. When others noticed her improved skin, they asked about her skincare routine, and Jonah saw an opportunity. She began selling the soap and created a distribution model inspired by multi-level marketing, using team leaders to drive growth.

Adapting During the Pandemic

Jonah’s path to success wasn’t without obstacles. A significant challenge came during the COVID-19 pandemic, right as Skin Potions was gaining momentum. The brand had just partnered with Disney and opened a flagship store when the pandemic forced businesses to shut down.

“All our investment was in inventory and the store, and we hadn’t recovered our ROI yet,” Jonah recalls. To keep her business afloat, she pivoted quickly by selling alcohol in collaboration with her manufacturers.

She also began developing new brands during this time. Instead of trying to rebuild Skin Potions, Jonah started fresh with Dear Face, using the same distribution network. Her goal was to support her distributors, who had lost income during the pandemic.

Success Through Live Selling

Dear Face gained significant traction when it ventured into live selling on TikTok, a platform Jonah initially hesitated to use. After noticing other brands thriving through TikTok’s online shopping feature, Jonah decided to give it a try.

“When TikTok Shop launched, I saw brands gaining millions of followers in a day. I thought, ‘Why not try Dear Face?’” she says. Her distributors embraced the platform enthusiastically, and live selling became a key driver of Dear Face’s success. TikTok even recognized Dear Face for its achievements, but Jonah emphasizes that her motivation was always to support her distributors.

“I go live on TikTok with their baskets and shops,” she explains.

The Entrepreneurial Mindset in Action

Jonah’s journey from Skin Potions to Dear Face and New Moon showcases the power of adaptability and continuous learning. Her entrepreneurial mindset, ability to pivot, and commitment to innovation have helped her overcome every challenge.

For those looking to follow in her footsteps, Jonah shares this advice:

  1. Launch a great product.
  2. Do your research—market research, competitive analysis, everything.
  3. Take the leap and dedicate yourself fully.
  4. Always rely on faith.

Jonah Sison-Ramos’ story reminds us that success in entrepreneurship isn’t about avoiding challenges but about embracing them with the right mindset.
